Following Your internalGPS: Goodbye to an Inspirational Model

❝Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma — which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of others’ opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary. Stay hungry. Stay foolish.❞  – Steve Jobs

This is from the commencement address that Steve Jobs gave in 2005. It is appearing in many Facebook posts after his passing yesterday. He is a wonderful model for following your internalGPS. Here is the link to my post from last year, “Lightness & Faith On Your Path to Success” where I summarized the key points of his speech and here is a link to the you tube video of the full speech at the 2005 Stanford graduation.

Here’s the thing that sometimes happens to me and to some of my clients, we think, “Oh, I can’t ever be as impactful as that guy, he had this or has that…” or “What my internalGPS is guiding me to do is not big enough or is too big or is too scary or ….”

Gently shut off that voice in your head or laugh it off and then do what you are guided to do. Listen to your voice, don’t compare. Be inspired and empowered to do whatever it is that you are meant to do, and then take a small step in that direction. And then another small step. Click on the video link above if you need a little more inspiration and then make it an extraordinary day.
